Funny, I always imagine this spelled "vers," I guess because versus has no "e." I'm curious to know if this is regional.
ReplyDeleteHarriet, I figured the E after the S would make the S a hard one, which is how I hear the kids pronouncing it. Without the S, you might get something like VURZ, right? More importantly: It's come to this. I'm getting defensive about imaginary entries in a hypothetical dictionary.
